It is important to note that according to the estimates of the World Health Organization for the year \n2020, Montenegro has the highest age-standardized rate of contracting and dying from cervical cancer in \nEurope. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
HPV infections are common and can cause genital warts as well as cancer in six locations in women and \nmen, the most common being the cervix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The HPV vaccine is a vaccine against cervical cancer. It is very effective and highly safe in just one dose, which has been established through extensive experience in application for more than 15 years in over 100 countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namely, for the reason that the primary goal is to achieve the effect of reducing the morbidity and \nmortality from cervical cancer, it is most justified and expedient to start with the vaccination of girls. Also, the plan is to expand the HPV vaccination program for boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The nine-valent HPV vaccine Gardasil 9 is available and provides protection against two HPV types (6 and 11) that cause >90% of genital warts, as well as seven high-risk HPV types responsible for genital warts. From Februar 2023 in Montenegro, HPV vaccination is possible for all girls and boys aged 9-18. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
